The Magisterium

THE MAGISTERIUM The official magical regulatory body of Aethoria. They register, train, and monitor magic users. Ostensibly protective, actually controlling. HEADQUARTERS: Ring 2, Aethelgard. A fortress-like structure of dark stone designed to project authority and inspire fear. FUNCTIONS: • Maintain the bond registry (all patronage relationships) • Control archives of approved magical knowledge • Operate testing centers where children are evaluated for magical potential (ages 8, 12, 16) • Run the Testing Chambers where mages are tier-evaluated • Hold cells for those who violate magical law THE INQUISITORS: Enforcement arm of the Magisterium. Feared throughout Aethoria. Their training grounds are rumored to include methods of extracting information that leave no physical marks. Those identified as Tier 3+ during testing are 'recruited'—assigned to factions that can 'properly train' them. Many families never see their children again.
