MAGIC SYSTEM OVERVIEW Aethoria's magic flows through all living things, controlled by the Gilded Cage system. Access to advanced magic requires formal education and patronage bonds. TIER ACCESS: • Tier 1-2: Available to all with minimal training. • Tier 3+: Requires formal education AND patronage bond. CONTROL: Two barriers restrict magical power—the Knowledge Lock (restricted education) and Patronage Bond (required for Tier 3+). This ensures powerful magic remains in hands of those who already have power. COSTS: All magic has costs. Mana exhaustion, crystal dependency, and source-specific requirements (faith, service, bargains) limit unlimited use.
